Get to know business areas using the Internet of Things

As you have read in previous posts, the Internet of Things (IoT) allows everything to be connected. Truly everything! Objects or even your business — wether in the area of industry, retail, agriculture, logistics, security, and many other trades — can be 100% connected to the Internet, monitored and controlled remotely, 24 hours a day.

In this post, you will get to know a bit more about some of those industries where IoT can be a strategic tool and generate new opportunities.

Industry – it is already possible to use tracking systems in real time, security sensors, bar codes, and GPS inside the factories. In this context, the Internet of Things can be applied in several ways, such as by creating an operating system specially designed to meet the demands of a production line, or the entire plant. Another form of application is the integration of production results with feeds, or reports in real time through an app or a website.

Logistics – With the IoT in the logistic sector, it is possible to monitor in real-time the load and the vehicle that carries it. With the Internet of Things, you can do this and more, such as monitoring the current position of the vehicle with the help of a computer or a smartphone. Besides that, it is possible to ensure a safe transportation during all stages of the process, from its origin to the final destination. Also, you are able to know the current status and control the storage conditions (humidity, temperature etc).

Intelligent Environments – a intelligent house or company. This is already possible out of movies! The monitoring system of the house works in conjunction with a GPS and understands when people are nearby or distant, and instantly prepares to receive them by connecting the lights, readying food, among other things. Let’s go beyond! With the Internet of Things, you can enable a whole  intelligent city, where streetlights turn off or turn on according to the activity of the population at the place.

Agriculture – with the IoT, it is possible to reduce waste in the agriculture sector, to manage and monitor equipment, making the production processes easier. Sensors can be used to monitor air temperature, soil, speed of the wind, humidity, rain probability, leaf wetness, among others. Farmers can improve yields using this data to adjust schedules, quantities of irrigation, and harvest periods.

Security – to have a safe and monitored environment without  having to invest a lot of money is a reality that many companies are learning. Through the IoT, you can remotely control the cameras in real time, have the record of check in, check out, and permanence in the local, be notified in case of invasions, etc.

Do you see? The possibilities in the IoT universe are numerous. Want to learn more about our solutions and the diverse application that Konker offers click here for a demonstration or contact us.
